Pointe
Most little girls dream of doing ballet one point or another. Not me tho. Not that I didn't appreciate the dance ( coz I truly do) but I felt before that it was too "girlish", too poised, too graceful, too elegant.
Not until I met Sachi, who asked me if we can bring ballet out of the stage and to the streets. The idea of elegance against the rough brick walls of Manila sounded all too interesting to me. And this girl shattered all my misconceptions about ballet. She didnt mind the scorching heat that would give her tan lines (and potentially get scolded by her teacher). She didnt mind moving against the hard, rough, odd surfaces. And I couldn't imagine how painful it must be with those shoes. I was so amazed. Going out of ones comfort zone requires an enormous amount of strength, which she gracefully, elegantly pulled off.
